Recognized with the Placido Domingo award for his outstanding career, Jorge Lagunes has already been heard on some of the world's great operatic stages including appearances at, Royal Opera House Covent Garden , Teatro Real de Madrid, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Washington´s Kennedy Center, New York City Opera, Grand Theater de Genève and Israeli Philharmonic in Tel Aviv, to name a few.
This season´s engagements include Rigoletto in Essen and Warsaw, Fanciulla del West in Mexico City, Lucia in Dusseldorf, Aida in Dubai and Ballo in Maschera, Pagliacci, Cavalleria Rusticana, Aida, Ernani, and Jolanthe in Mannheim National Theater.
He has also performed ENRICO (Lucia di Lammermoor) in Opéra de Montréal , EUGENE ONEGIN in Mexico City National Opera, GERMONT in Franco Zeffirelli’s new production of La Traviata in Bussetto, Modena, Ferrara, and Ravenna, VIDAL in the revival of Luisa Fernanda in Mexico City under the baton of Plácido Domingo, RIGOLETTO with the Israeli Philharmonic, NABUCCO in the Teatro de la Plata.
Elsewhere in Europe, significant engagements have included ESCAMILLO (Carmen) in Palma de Mallorca , SHARPLESS (Madama Butterfly) in Opera de Bilbao , ENRICO in the Deutsche Oper Berlin, AMONASRO (Aida) in Köln , RENATO (Un Ballo in Maschera) and AMONASRO (Aida) in the Finnish National Opera , RIGOLETTO in the State Opera Budapest and Don Giovanni (Eutin).
Further performances include his regular appearances at Washington National Opera and Los Angeles Opera as GERARD (Andrea Chenier), GIORGIO (I Puritani), POSA (Don Carlos), ENRICO (Lucia di Lammermoor), GERMONT (La Traviata) and ESCAMILLO (Carmen).
Recently he sang Nabucco in Schwerin, Conte di Luna (Il Trovatore) in Mexico, and in Mannheim: Iago (Otello) ,BARNABA (La Gioconda) ,MACBETH , SIMONE BOCCANEGRA,TONIO (Pagliacci), ALFIO(Cavalleria Rusticana), JACK RANCE (Fanciulla del West) , MARCELLO(Boheme), GELNER (La Wally), ESCAMILLO (Carmen), ENRICO (Lucia di Lammermoor), RENATO (Ballo in Maschera) in Basel and Mannheim, among others.
